Trying to get a feel if I should sign up or not. I only have in house body shop and we do about 1500 hour per month just wondering if it will be worth it or not. Or deal with the hassle and use the " MyPriceLink" that is due out.

Just wondering how many of you have signed up for the "latest & Greatest promo from OE Connection. This is the email I rec'd from OE Connection again today:

Just a friendly reminder - Today is the last day for the CollisionLink promotion. As you may have heard, all GM dealerships that don’t have CollisionLink will have to participate in MyPriceLink. The promotion is a reduced rate at $199/month with a WAIVED activation fee (normally $249/month and $199 activation fee).

GM also allows you to use $100 each month from you’re bump the competition funds to pay toward the subscription. Additionally, they allow you to co-op the remainder with your iMR advertising/marketing funds.

Any GM dealership that has collision business should be considering CollisionLink for the integration with MyPriceLink, which is set to roll out later this year. Pricing will be going up in August to its normal listing.

The enrollment form is attached - Simply fill out the form and email or fax it back to me before the end of business today.

I'm waiting to see what happens.

They are pushing it pretty hard so I'm guessing not many dealers are signing up.

Also taking the wait and see approach. We don't want to do it. The costs are simply too high for a small dealership and a smaller body shop.

I have used Collision Link at another dealership. It isn't all that difficult to use. HOWEVER, the problem is getting the body shops to use it EVERY time. Does anyone remember the State Farm discount program. What a cluster that was. Not only did purchases go through the system but RETURNS had to as well. The body shops would simply ship the parts back with the driver like they always have. Credit requests had to be put into the system, which they never did.

BOTTOM LINE - LEAVE US ALONE!!!

Once we buy the parts let us sell them. It is none of your business where we got them or who we sold them to and for what price. Remember we paid for the parts - they are ours - let us do what we want with them.

We just don't want you standing ALL around it and get in the way.
Stand back a little and let us do our jobs.
Remember, GM was a giant manufacturer at one time. During that time the General sold very little to the actual user. The dealerships sold everything. The General invented AC Delco, etc.

It was prior to my time but does anyone remember division specific parts departments. Yes, that's right if you wanted a Chevrolet exclusive part you had to go to a Chevrolet dealer. Granted the aftermarket wasn't a player back then, but who really created this mess, I don't know. I do know it was not the dealerships.

If manufacturers hadn't cashed in and sold the same model for years and years, it would not have been profitable for aftermarket companies to stamp panels. Who wants to tool up for a new panel every year? The aftermarkets could not afford it. IMHO GM started this all with the 1973 - 1981 pick-ups. Fenders didn't fit all those years but the doors did and kept fitting until 1987.

We have it, and its a decent system. Problem is...nobody (customers) wants to use it. If you have a large wholesale operation, it is nice because it can put the bump the comp stuff in there for you. But try and try and try, and we can't get our customers to use it.

We don't have and really don't need it. But, shouldn't Collision Link be trying to get your B/S customers on it ?

Well you would think. But now with Partstrader it seems everyone has gone to that, and doesn't want to mess with a second system. Now we are trying to figure out how to deal with the 3.5% surcharge they are throwing at us for using the system.

Pass that 3.5% right back. Also read the fine print. It is 3.5% of msrp, or whatever the body shops charge the insurers, not 3.5% of your selling price.
