New DMS Source for MyPriceLink Parts on Dec Price Tape

Just a heads up.
Did December Price Tape update yesterday and noticed that it appears that on CDK/ADP, Source 103 has been designated as the default Source for these parts when added to your system.
So,if anyone was using that source for menu items or anything else, they will need to move those items to a new source.
It will also create the ability to put generic price break escalators on those parts in Source 103 without trade and list.
Probably similar situation on Reynolds and other DMS providers.

Not a new thing, it's a RIM thing.

Not a RIM thing, although I understand why you would think that.
When Dealers initially set up RIM, there are instructions to set up a Source for RIM to reinsert parts that DMS systems were deleting prior to meeting RIM’s 18 month monitoring of said numbers. Some dealers may have set up Source 103 for this. We chose Source 105.
GM had, in the past, used Source 102, 103 and 104 for Target Parts and Engine and Transmissions that did not have List or Trade Prices on the Master Tape.
In recent years, only 3 DEFAULT SOURCES were on the PRICE TAPE:
100-Superseded/Memo Parts on File
101-PDC Supplied Parts (Bulk of Your Inventory)
106- Ship Direct/Accessories
After running our Monthly Update, I needed to check a price on a Back Up Sensor, and noticed that there was no PRICE6 Value for the part, which we have as a MENU PRICE for Menu Items we have placed in this Source (103). It did however contain a LIST and TRADE Price, FOR NOW.
I checked the Source for this part number and noticed the NEW SOURCE, one we had set up for Menu Items, it had been moved to during PMU. It had been in 101 prior to this. So then I went to PM, Batch Change to see how many other numbers had gone to Source 103 and noticed 400+ numbers had been moved to Source 103, all of which were COLLISION RELATED.
Now, when adding COLLISION (MyPriceLink) NUMBERS to your system, the Price Tape contains an indicator that will DEFAULT these parts to this NEWLY Designated Source within the CDK/GM System. These are not the same parts reinserted by RIM due to DMS deletion prior to meeting RIM monitoring parameters.
This is obviously the DMS and GM’s solution to weeding all the COLLISION (MyPriceLink) PARTS from Source 101 to accomplish the NO LIST/TRADE designation. Parts remaining in Source 101 and 106 will still have LIST/TRADE pricing.
Come January, it is likely LIST and TRADE will disappear on these parts in Source 103.
As for other DMS Systems, it has to be similar.

I think it will be a loooooong time before Reynolds catches up to this. They still have a default source for Goodwrench Exhaust!

Hopefully it works and I won't have to batch change all these parts at the beginning of each month.
List=Cost+100
Trade=Cost+50
Problem solved.

Please be advised, your General Motors part master has been enhanced to include Sourcing Detail to further identify the Collision MyPriceLink parts that are currently designated with a B, M or W in the Selective Parts Indicator field provided in Other Information, Left of A.
The Parts Indicators B, M and W will now also be provided in the below listed Source field locations on the General Motors Part Masters effective December 1, 2015.
Source 2 = Selective Parts Indicator 'B', Truckload Fascia/Grille Parts
Source 3 = Selective Parts Indicator 'M', Competitive Collision Parts
Source 4 = Selective Parts Indicator 'W', MyPriceLink parts not already identified in Source 2 or Source 3
If you are not already using Sources 2, 3 and 4 and want to use the new sourcing for the Collision MyPriceLink parts you will need to do the following prior to loading the December 1, 2014 update:
After you have verified that you are not already using Sources 2, 3 and 4, in function PMU change the Field Map to update the source from the master. Then run the Update option to update all the sources.

Here's what I'm seeing today from CDK/ADP:
If you want to use the new sourcing for the GM collision parts, do the following prior to loading the
January 1, 2016 GM parts master update:
1 - In function PMU, make sure that the GM Field Maps are all set up to update the Source field from the master.
2 - Run the Update option to update all the sources.
If you don't want to change the sources of the GM collision parts, do the following prior to loading the
January 1, 2016 GM parts master update:
1 - In function PMU, make sure that the GM Field Maps are all set up to not update the Source field from the master.
2 - Run the Update option to update all the sources.
So I guess this means the Dec. update will not change sources till next month?

On ADP if you run the update option to update all sources as suggested it will change them all back to the default source from GM.
If you have any special sources set up (AC Delco parts, special pricing, accessories, etc) IT WILL CHANGE THEM ALL.
Ask me how I know.

The Source movement is already on the December Price Tape Update.
That's why I wanted to get this thread out there.
The only thing that hasn't occurred yet is the removal of LIST and TRADE, which should occur in January.
Run your December tapes and verify.

Gotcha.
So you're saying ADP is giving us incorrect information??

Surely not.
