Wholesale GM dealers and pricelink..

Postby tmundal » Tue Dec 08, 2015 5:43 pm

Hey guys and gals,

For those of you in the wholesale game, what are you doing, or thinking of doing to deal with these lower list prices? Switching accounts to cost plus? Fascias are where I've noticed the largest drops (so far), but if we continue to offer the same kinds of discounts we have been offering, there's no way we'll get the gross to keep everyone employed. Which I think is part of GM's plan here.. Get all the small and medium sized dealers out of the wholesale game, and just let the one huge guy in each state do it all.

Do what you did with BTC parts. MPL sets their cost in collisionlink. Nothing I can do with those parts prices. The few non-MPL parts will have the regular pricing discounts off of List. The good thing is, the reimbursement to the 14% is more than what I normally would make.

What about non bump parts though? 2008 Tahoe front fascia 25814570, list price went from 575.20 to 479.33 with no change in cost. At 28% off we would've made 126.54, now only 57.52... Multiply that by all the fascias and grilles sold over the course of a normal month, and its a giant hit. I can see a lot of dealer principals telling their parts managers to cancel their wholesale programs.

This is GM's statement that Dealerships are profiting too much on collision wholesale, and Parts managers and counterpeople are overpaid. You need to adjust your cost of sales down or get out of the wholesale business, Just like not paying $30.00 hr. techs to do brake jobs and oil changes. I'm not being sarcastic, it's the truth. GM doesn't care how your net profit looks, only your Dealer does. GM's going to sell parts one way or another, and dropping margins and list price will do just that. This will also force out a lot of the Mom & Pop body shops, because you simply won't have 28% markup to give away to them anymore.

You will file a claim on Bump 2.0 (the old BTC) and get reimbursed. Collisionlink does this automatically. I'm no expert by any means, just what I'm finding so far.
