Snap On contract up

Snap On contract up

Postby sipps » Tue Feb 23, 2016 1:29 am

Hey guys and gals. Thanks for all the inventory/Automate tips over the past few months. Our Snap On EPC is up for renewal...for 60 months. One server and four stations cost $891 a MONTH! My question is do we still need a server if the EPC is on GLOBAL? We are a small Buick/GMC dealer averaging 53k gross a month. $1500 a month for EPC and locator fees? outrageous!

Unless something has changed, no. You need a license to access the catalog in Global as well. It will work until GM catches up to it. Don't ask how I found out, the owner knew better<g>

We have 3 standalones that are updated over the internet and occasional discs. No server needed and its only $450 per month.
And you don't have to have the locator either. Many people are cancelling.

You don't need a server.

You can run the catalog on a stand alone PC or four stand alone PCs. We purchased our own - went way above recommended specs, purchased workstations instead of PCs. We pay Snap-On $150 monthly for each PC license.

You don't have to sign 60 month deal. We were signing each year (12 month contract) then last time I decided to do 24 months. GM controls the pricing so contract isn't likely going to help when price goes up. However, if equipment becomes a problem you can always go to Snap-On equipment when your contract comes up.

Buy your own PC's and do them all as stand alones.

You can certainly use the online version, but its slower, and if anything happens to your internet you're dead in the water.

Ok so our contract is up with snap on Monday, talk about waiting until the last minute I know. Currently we have the server and 2 pc's which we pay $640 a month for.
Snap on's "new proposal is $640/month for 60 months! Which comes out to be about $40k!! Really? $40,0000!!!! For new computers, and a license to use a shitty catalog! Come on GM, that is just ridiculous!!! Or I can pay $640/month and keep my old equipment for another year. So I complained to snap on about price being so high and what other options did I have. They came back with a "new" proposal with no server and 2 pc's for $540/month or option #2 Use all old/current pc's &
2 licenses renewals and flash drive upgrades for $540/month WHAT A RIP! anyone have any thoughts???? I thought someone posted that they are only paying $150 per license? How do I get that deal?

I would ask to see a detailed break down of what you are paying for.

I renewed recently and they had some Mitchell estimator in the contract (I guess some one had used it here once upon a time) for $135/month.

I checked and it hadn't been used in over a year and had it removed from the new contract.

Hey parts phil, could you possibly fax me a copy of your proposal? I could give you me fax # here at work. I just can't believe how crooked this company is. Cheapest quote I got for to stand alones is $539 for 36 months.
