ADP RPG problem of the month

Jjones,
The problem with working with the WIP-History file is that the same attribute can contain different types of info depending on whether it is a parts record or a labor record, and I have yet to find a way to get info out of a parts record and a labor record in the same report.

I use WIP-HISTORY quite a bit but never try to access it using English. That's why I said "if you had User-Programming" and an assumed knowledge of the WIP-History database.

Jjones,
I reread my post and it sounded a little condescending. Sorry about that.

Rob,
If you can forgo the labor-type the PDA.PARTS file has all that info. You could actually get at the labor type if ADP would build a dict item to look at wip-history from pda.parts.

Gerry,
No offense taken, I was only offering WIP-HISTORY as a possible alternative solution if the dealership has not purchased PDA from CarInk. The WIP-HISTORY file is the only "standard" ADP file that contains full Parts and Labor Detailed historical data - and is often overlooked.
