GM's changing communication satellite

I just found out we Alaskan and Hawaiian dealers don't have to move our dish on the 18th. Either we are using a different satellite and won't be affected or we are using a different satellite - andwill be affected! Guess who I think is going to do without GM Access for awhile?

Isn't technology wonderful?

Yeah, GM's great reaim program....We went in to repoint at the proper time....went to the main Access box, got the numbers, reaimed....then went home, as the bulletin said it could take 24 hours to AutoCommision the box on the new Sat. Well, come Monday morning, still no Sat lock... was on hold for 6 hours Monday, and worked with a tech for another hour when I finally got through. They couldn't fix it either. I contacted one of our customers, a TV Satilitte Company, he came over, and since we knew what Sattilite we were trying to hit, he took a reciever and TV up to the roof, and repointed the dish. The instructions from GM had told us to repoint the dish 10 degrees right, when the actual adjustment should have been 16 degrees. I gladly paid the guy $80 and had Pulsat/Access/Rapid back up in about 15 minutes. I sure hope that our 'new' Training programs give us better information that THIS!

Our re aim went perfect too but it sure looked differant than what the instructions said after you hit the auto comm button again
I left that friday night feeling less than assured and could not get any one on the phone line it was always busy walked in monday morning and Dealer Prin gave me fax stating that problem for the first hour of reaim which is when we did ours as soon as every one got there we checked ours out early monday morning and every thing was perfect.I think we were also lucky
