Stand alone LTG

Stand alone LTG

Postby robc » Mon Mar 26, 2001 12:08 pm

I am getting a fair number of calls from people looking for stand-alone LTG programs. Besides ADP's Warranty Wizard and Bell+Howell's LTG does anyone know of another offering for GM dealers?

While not a stand alone LTG, "Motor All Data" is usually very accurate with factory times. It is an entire program with service information including TSB's and repair manuals. We use it in our used car dept and have been very happy with it. There are some hardware requirements (ie: DVD drive to read discs) but overall it has worked very well for us.

If I were you I would get a cheap stand alone PC and just use the LTG CD that GM issues and that would work great. I use that system now and it works great.

Good point by lovemotors. If all you need is the LTG, you can probably find a retired PC in the supply closet upstairs that would work fine.

The ltg cd is nice, but be careful. Keep the older ones. The cd's are just as prone to human error as the fiche and paper formats. An example was the "oversight" in not including the E9730 steering gear lop in the KD/KY section on the January update. The lop was also incorrectly taken off wins at the same time. That is why you need to stay on top of what is in any system. They all have errors from time to time. With GM, you can always fire of the request for review. Since DBC says "route it to your rep" it is a good idea to send the review request when you submit the claim. They don't like the extra work it takes if the wins group can fix the problem

We have been using GM LTG's from Auto Soft in Penn. The support number is 800-473-4630 I assume they can get you to sales. Works great on a PC with a CD. Used to have Warranty Wiz but ADP raised the price too much for us. This is only 199 or 299 a year.
