What's a brake job actually pay the tech??

zsmith-I like the idea of including the techs in discounting, also. Unfortunately,in this store that translates into "discount the parts more, and we'll make it up in labor"..the techs love the jobs that pay3.0 that they can do in 1.5, but won't touch anything that pays what it actually takes...as far as bringing more work into the store, they say"if we can't make money on it, we don't want it"

I am looking into using the Durastop products here, but have some concerns about he quality of the pads and shoes. Past exp has not been favorable. Price is good, I think I could do as tjsmith did and pull some more work into the shop, but want to be sure it does not backfire on me because of poor product.

Any input from you GM guys about Durastop parts quality? (tjsmith, how about a contact number for you)

We have been using Durastop pads almost exclusively for @ 3 years now (ceramic wherever possible), and in that time period have had only 2 complaints (one noisey, one prematurely worn out). They are also price competitive(you can always find a cheaper pad,but not at this store!)

TJSMITH:
In your brake job example. $99.95 brake job, $41.00 brake pad, and you pay they tech 1.5 hours equal to $56.00 or you pay 1.5 times his hourly rate out of the remaining $58.95?

I charge the cust 56.00...then tech will get 1.5 for the job, & my highest pd tech is 20.00 hr, then it goes to $17,16,13,10.

And there is tax on the $41.00(pads) so you will have to fool with your numbers to get it to come out right.
