Looking for suggestions/recommendations for a "Small" scale DMS for a start-up independent repair facility.
A buddy wants to get well set-up from the start with an integrated accounting/ marketing/database system.
Any recommendations for Hardware, software or services would be greatly appreciated, as well as noteable ones to avoid.

Hi Farfinator,
There are tons of Companies out there they cover software for Independent Repairshops. We are using Winworks in our used car Dept. and in two independent locations. Its easy to learn, data transfer and networkable.
If you would like to get more info E mail me and I will send you some links for independent Shop software. As I mentioned there are lots of programms out there, you have to shop and search for YOUR requirements.

Hey Farfinator,

We see lots of different systems in our clients operations. If you can email me more information about the users requirements, like size of business, do they carry parts inventory, how many users, how many locations, etc., I would be happy to suggest some alternatives. We don't recommend any systems, and we don't sell anything. I have run across small, full dealership systems that run on a single PC and a printer.

Good Luck,

Hi, I have in the last six months left the dealership and moved to manage a "small" (4 techs and 12 bays) independant shop. We are using Winworks also. It networks, exports to either Peachtree, Quickbooks or Quicken and can interface with estimating software. In addition we were using SoftKey from snap-on to do estimates and technical data. I recently switch to CCI/Triad for estimateing due to the large aftermarket parts catolog and the ability to interface with our local parts house. Both softkey and CCI use the Mitchel labor database. The Softkey has a good OEM catolog.
