Good Morning All;

Re:Total Personnel Expense as a % of Dept. Gross Benchmark?

What should it be for a Domestic Store with a small satellite Mazda Store Combined

Would everybody please give me where you are or a group benchmark?

My % of gross is 34.4% YTD thru June 2009

Thanks a Bunch;

Bob

We are a GM store with a small Mitsubishi operation in our statement and are 44% of GP before owners salary is added in.

The benchmark percentage will be different depending on whether or not the Body Shop is getting a percentage of the Parts Gross Profit. Assuming they are not, the benchmark should be 38%, which can be tough to get to. 34.4% is a great job, but you might want to check to be sure your people are expensed to the right departments, both allocated and un-allocated. I would be concerned that there's something missing from that figure.
