Take a good look at what others are doing in your area that is working well. Odds are that they are using some creative and unique approaches.

Chances are your to late on a lot of it. I would start by going thru your declined repairs in the last 60 days and call them up offer then a 5-10% discount on anything done this week. Build a report of your customer base and check them for recalls, call customers and get them in for that. And most important impress the HELL out of ever customer coming in now so you can keep them. We started working on this when times were good and even though they are not great now we have had the best 1st quarter (so far) in 3 years. Jan. was a record for Service and Parts was within a couple grand of a record. I'm not blowing my own horn, I'm just saying customer retention is vital now more than ever.

I totally agree with X476. Those that just took the money and ran are now suffering because of the "if they don't come back, someone else will take their place" attitude. Yes sometimes you have to just let a customer go because no matter what you do they are not satified but the rest are your meat and gravy. Treat them right and they will come back no matter what the economic climate. In the end they are the ones paying your wages. No customers. No Job.

It's over here!! Currently running 148%! Let's hope it holds! The sun is out and so are the people. I've never lost money in the 9 years I've been here, but came close last month. It was pretty dismal Let's hope this trend continues!!
