BG Service

We have started using BG products, trans, p/s, brake, coolant, differential, and induction service. My question is for those who bought the equipment how much did you pay for each machine? Also what are you paying for product? I am using Wynn's product in my other store and the prices seem to be the same but... Oh by the way, for you guys that have been using it for a while how much does it taper off? I would hate to buy these machines to have them collecting dust a year from now because we have all of our customer base up to speed.

I didn't pay for any equipment. But, I buy/sell a lot of product and he also fixes or replaces equipment when needed.
My sales are good, have to keep training the consultants to stay menu focused. I sell everything except the engine supplement and transmission flushes. Have sold over 100k worth of services this year.
Also check to see if you can buy quarterly for a greater discount or maybe free cases of product on certain break points.

Mr Mopar. we have been using BG services for about three years now. I have seen an increase of useage rather than a taper off. The techs know these are easy upsells and most of the services are gravy work. Also, we have included some of the service in our recommended service packages. The writers like to sell them, tech's like to do them, so it's been a big plus for us. We use the entire line of BG's also.

also to David. are you recieving any price breaks on your purchases. I had not inquired about that with my rep. It seems their prices are rising every year, plus my eauipment is figured in to the cost of my supplies.

Right now I am paying a $5.00 upcharge for the trans & p/s kits and $100.00 per brake kit case all of which are to applied to the purchase price and consequently to be removed if/when I decide on purchasing the equipment. I have a list of part #'s we use posted on the Parts Forum and am really curious as to what others are paying. I can buy most of the equipment that Wynn's offers from Chrysler PSE at a pretty good price which I will use to negotiate with BG.

I'm not sure what's happening in other states but beware in Southern California as some lawyers have taken on cases involving flushes being done and not being recommended by certain manufacturers. Another thing to be careful on is are you offering spiffs to your techs and advisors on flush sales ? I found in a previous store I managed that after removing the spiffs from flushes our sales decreased by over 40% which shows that many were being sold for the spiff instead of an actual need. As stated in the other posts we do not pay for our machines as long as we purchase their products.

Most of the time the cost of the chemicals is negotiable with the vendor.

If you are paying spiffs, that cost is built into the product when you purchase it. So you are really paying for the cost of the spiff up front, in your parts inventory.

I'd caution managers on one thing. Watch your menu sales frequency. They could go down if you don't. They used to be considered the gravy, now the flushes are. Make sure you don't lose a higher profit (parts and labor) job for a potentially lower job.

I always wonder how well other items would be sold if we paid the cost of the spiff up front and awarded the spiff at the time of sale?

I don't see any reason to spiff flushes or any other item on a regular basis. Technicians and advisors are here to recommend needed maintenance and repairs and get paid for it in flat rate pay and commisions for any work that is done so I ask, why a spiff ? Changing up weekly or monthly spiffs to focus on or move something I can understand but be careful of keeping it in place long term. I have seen first hand the results of overselling and techs and advisors feeling it's now part of their pay plan. Just my two cents.

WE HAVE BEEN USING FLUSH PRODUCTS FOREVER IT SEEMS LIKE. I SPIFF MY ADVISORS AND , YES, IT IS A PART OF THEIR PAYPLAN. THEY HAVE A MINIMUM NUMBER THEY NEED TO SELL EVERY MONTH. IF THEY DON'T THEY FEEL IT IN THE WALLET. I TRULY BELIEVE IN ALL THE PRODUCTS I SELL AND USE THEM MYSELF.

I WOULD NOT PAY A PENNY FOR THE MACHINES. IF BG WANTS YOUR BUSINESS, HE WILL GIVE THEM TO YOU AND MAINTAIN THEM ALSO. THERE ARE TOO MANY COMPANIES OUT THERE WILLING TO GIVE THEM TO YOU FOR FREE. ENVIROLUTION IS ANOTHER AGRESSIVE COMPANY THAT WON'T CHARGE YOU.
