having a problem with flat raters coming in on time. Since they are not paid by the clock hour they seem to be lax in their arrival time. Any suggestions?

We keep a rotating list of "ups" for the ultimate technician gravy - maintenance packages (15,30,60Ks, etc.)

If a tech is late, he goes to the bottom of the up list. Works pretty well.

next time you decide to raise the tech flat rate pay, instead make it an attendence bonus. My techs get an extra 75 cents per flat rate hour IF they clock in Every day on time. if they are 1 minute late on any day during that pay period; no bonus for that pay period. it's not punishment for being late, just a reward for being on time every day.

I have a Car Wash and Detail manager that makes a fairly decent hourly rate and I pay him 5% of all sales (retail and internal) that go through the wash racks. He averages seventy-five cents per unit and he definitely keeps the other guys hopping. I used to hear, "can't get to it" all the time, but no more. Retail gross profits have far exceeded the additional expense of his bonus.

just because they are flat rate doesnt mean they dont have rules and guidelines to adher to whatever they are late ,dock from there flat rate hours. if this seems hard get them all to sign a job description complete with hours they need to be there.
