Service Advisor Pay Survey

I use a team approach. All sales are put into a pot which each consultant get a % of based on performance. Being that the pot can be rather large the commission percentages are low. All consultants have a base salary of a $1000.00 per month. Commission percentages start at .5% up to 3%. Commission percentages are driven by brand sales and CSI. I have found that the CSI has improved along with teamwork. It takes time for this program to work, but it is effective. Consultants pay ranges from $3000.00 to $6000.00 per month

WE PAY OUR ADVISORS $5.00 / FLAT RATE HOUR SOLD AND A .25% OVERRIDE OF TOTAL SHOP SALES LESS SUBLET, PARTS AND LABOR. THIS ACHIEVES TWO GOALS. IT REALLY GETS THE ADVISOR AND THE TECHS TOGETHER SINCE THEY IDEALLY HAVE THE SAME PAY PLAN. IF THEY DO NOT SELL LABOR HOURS NO ONE GETS PAID. SECONDARY TO THAT IT PUTS THE ADVISOR ON HIS TOES AS FAR AS BEING SURE HE IS CHARGING THE CORRECT LABOR TIMES FOR ALL JOBS. NO MORE "EYEBALLING THE TECHS TIMES" THEY LOOK THEM ALL UP. MANAGEMENT SHOULD AND DOES CONTROL THE E.L.R. AND GROSS BY REVIEWING THESE AREAS DAILY AND COUNSELING ALL WHO START TO GET OFF TRACK.
ALSO IT STABILIZES YOUR EXPENSE BECAUSE THE PERCENTAGE REMAINS THE SAME REGARDLESS OF LABOR RATES.AVERAGE ADVISORS PAY APPROX. $3500.00 PER MONTH

We have tried numerous plans, the version we went with in our Olds-Cad store has been extremely successful in achieving our goals.

Advisors earn:
$700/mo base salary
$300/mo CSI Bonus (at or above zone)
4% commission on their personal LABOR sales
2% commission on the total shop LABOR sales

This is a 10 tech shop in Utah.
With this plan, Advisors sell labor, labor, and more labor. CSI is improving, and our techs have never been busier or happier.
