Is anyone using variable door rates in there shop. I.E. higher cherges for hi-tech and lower rates for general maintenance replacement etc.?
For you who have done it has it been successful? any drawbacks or feedback would be appreciated.

Variable door rates

I use the variable rate concept in our shop. I am on Rey & Rey and have set up our system to recognize the higher skilled ops. We utilize Reynolds Service Pricing Guide and this allows me to set jobs with the skill catagories needed to match the job. I also use our Grid System to do the same. It has increased our labor gross profit from 59% when I got here to 74% current and this is calculating ALL labor groups...lof to hi tech. Takes a little work but worth it in the end. I lock my grid so the advisors cannot change the rates, default the operations (pre write the cause, set diag time, and lock the op so they cannot change it). As they realize the game, I release permissions so the good advisors can fly and continue to train the weaker ones.
Works very well for us.
I just reworked my menus to increase our sales and make them more uniform with the factory schedule, added an ala carte section for the jobs we "like" to sell ( area conditions) and added accessories, details etc. We have increased our menu sales and are averaging $74.00 (approx) on menu sales.
