Not only does our cashier handle service/parts payments, she manages rental and loaner vehicles, handles R.O. filing, and provides action on unpaid R.O.s. She never has a dull moment, and stays busy. Without her here, those tasks would have to be handled by other employees, and I surely wouldn't want to ask an advisor to do it, they should be focused on their "in process" customers at all times. I don't know what your work load is like, or your service department's layout, but it would be much too distracting and time consuming here. Perhaps instead of eliminating the position and adding additional work load to employees who are already busy, you might consider using the cashier for things other than just cashing out customers. Just a thought.
