WARRANTY TIME VS. CP TIME

WARRANTY TIME VS. CP TIME

Regarding factories paying for actual time to repair - Ford tried that 10 years ago in a few dealerships including one I worked at in fburrows back yard - Sterling Ford. The thought was that part sales would drop, meaning warranty costs would drop, and fixed-right-the-first-time scores would skyrocket. As a dealership, we made more money, parts sales didnt drop, and frtft scores did not change. Flat rate techs really tried, but they did not change from being part changers for the first repairs, and technicians if it came back.
On a similar note, in our area or Southwest Virginia, we have had hourly techs do a great job at taking care of our customers needs - easy or hard jobs. It just takes a manager to run the shop.
