MPI is software that will pull information from your DMS and create an inspection report according to your settings in MPI for that particular vehicle according to mileage and or age that you set up. You can trigger these inspections to appear for your technicians to see on their laptop at their stall by tying them to labor ops and then adding that labor op to the RO. The technician then completes the inspection and then a pop-up will appear on the service advisors computer alerting them the inspection is compplete. The advisor then fill out the parts prices and labor prices for anything recommended for the vehicle. A recommended services report is then given to the customer to read and decide what they would like to purchase. When the vehicle is completed a Know your Vehicle Report is then printed to give the customer to take home with them listing all recommendations and what was completed and what is left un-repaired and the prices quoted.
I went on MPI on 07/01/08 and have seen no increase in sales on the service lane but it does seem a few more customers are calling back for an appointment after looking at there Know your vehicle Report.
My effective labor rate has dropped, CP dollars are about even so far. Support is a little lacking as we have yet to see our promised rep in our store yet. The MPI server goes down quite alot and has to be reset by them to get it back up so we can do the inspections. If your customer is recommended a service and declines it, and then comes back in 3 months and the same service is not recommended again you can lose credibility.
The customers seem to like it. I am hoping this helps customer retention. It is expensive. The best thing about it so far is the reports. You can see by each advisor how many request inspections, and how many are completed, also by the technicians, how many inspectins are done and how many recs on each one. Also their upsells per ro and inspections missed or completed by each advisor or tech. Hope this helps and is nowhere near complete information, I really have not made up my mind if it is worth the money or not.
