Hyundai should be a good test to see the problems with service manuals over the Internet. They are supposed to have all of the service manuals posted on their web page soon. It will be accessible to anyone via the Internet. At least those dealers who have used Hyundai's for sale will be able to access the service manuals now.

Ever wonder why they have droped the training for ESI? I'd say the whole deal is in a mess. It never fails to amaze me how GM can complicate something that could be so easy. One good thing about good old GM, where always on a learing curve.

After loading version 303 on the server, we found ESI did not work except for the 4 CD's that were loaded on the individual Techline terminals. Techline instructed us to load all of the 10 disks on each terminal as a stand alone until they can figure out what is wrong with the new disks. Techline says they have had other dealer complaints. Now, whenever we need ESI, we have to shut down the terminal, restart and skip the password screen by hitting cancel. This gets the computer up but off line from Access...........Sad, very Sad

Every month it is a different problem...a different way to load the %$#$% disks! What is with GM???

We just replaced our T6 and T65 with GAteway 450Mghz machines and loaded for max perfomance. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]
As you would expect from GM, it took probably 10 phone calls to techline to get everything perfect. I made the techs real happy because it really works well. We are going to add another hub just for the shop and add 2-3 more in about 4 -6 months. GM really takes advantage of you by requiring you to buy new software with their blocking devices, instead of reusing the items from the computers we are replacing. Plus the cost to keep the system software updated is around $2500 per year per machine I think. And now that we will be spending $1600 per month for training expenses tghe moment we are signed up the the new training interaction, training and info from GM is really becoming pricey, GM. when are you going to include the cost of getting your info to the techs in the calculation for warranty labor rate???

There seems to be much dismay about ESI like many other GM programs (remember WINS)How is everyone doing with TIS2000? That is what I can't get to work right. As far as ESI I have been through what sounds like the same things most of you are talking about and managed to correct all of it. (without any help the our friends at GMACCESS)
ESI on the web? I hope not. the last thing a dealership needs is to have to give technicians internet access in the shop.

Terry, we are having no problems at all. Our system is working great, or at least as designed. We are using Gateway E4200 450Mgh machines and are perfroming quite nicely once we got all the bugs out. I am willing to bet the internet access will happen failry soon. the GM access machineswill not allow total dealership growth and are too limiting. This is one of the things we all will have to live with

We have had access to the web based ESI for couple of months now.. It has many good points and is alot easier to use than the CD-Disk based ESI even with the latest updates. It is presently only on our service mangers PC via a T-1 connection which is a must but not very accessible for our techs when they are researching a problem..
