diagnostic charges

What works in one area may not work in another. While large diagnostic charges are not an issue in one town, even a small one can be death in another.

Is car count an issue? How about repeat visits?

In some markets, a free quick check is the norm....scary, huh

One universal truth is that customers do not like to pay for diagnosis. It may not seem that way at your store today, but it is to some extent whether you know it or not.

As mentioned, one of the best ideas is to list total labor charges for services without listing diagnosis as a separate line. People hate that separate line.

IF WE REPAIR THEN WE WILL LIST IT ON ONE LINE AS DIAGNOS AND REPAIR OR DIAGNOS AND REPLACE.THE EXCEPTION IS IF WE USE A SCAN TOOL THEN DIAGNOSTICS IS CHARGED AS A SCAN CODE

We charge diagnosis on a case by case basis. Normally we roll the diag fee into the repair price. We do charge the diag fee if no repairs are done. I think asekevin has the right idea with his approach. It seems to be more customer friendly.
