If it were an hourly person tonyo, that would be true, with some limitations, but since techs are considered FLSA exempt, travel time is not required to be compensable.

Is a tech FSLA exempt? If so, why? What does being FSLA exempt mean? If a tech is FSLA exempt, does that mean we dont have to pay them time and a half if they are hourly? Finally, if a tech is paid by the hour, plug a per hour turned bonus, does that change things?

This is excerpted from the NADA guide on FLSA exemptions."mechanics primarily engaged in servicing automobiles or trucks are exempt from overtime but not minimum wage. To be exempt they must spend over 50% of their time doing exempt work(mechanical).
