Service Advisors as Cashiers ?

Completed repair orders and keys were kept in a designated place in each ASM's office. Customers returned to the same place they were written up and the repair order was explained and customer signature obtained, and then the customer was escorted to cashier. While the customer was paying a porter or the ASM pulled the car around for pick-up.
With this process, the customer goes to the same place for pick-up or drop-off. No confusion there. And after the ASM leaves, sometimes the cashier is told of a concern the customer has that for some reason the customer would not share with the ASM. If the cashier is kept in the CSI loop, they are able to address a concern that the customer might not otherwise discuss with the ASM.
Again, each store is different.
