Machining Rotors under warranty

Hey Michael,
How is it that you can warranty brakes up to 24,000 miles? Is this your AVM'S call or is a GM policy issue? I put up a post about what my last two AVM'S have done to me. I'm intersestd to know your answer...
Thanks

has anyone tried the brake-align system? i am in the process of purchasing it. our avsm payes all claims as long as you have the current part number pads and rotors and pays for the brake-align disc.

To Lovemotors,

For well over 6 months, GM has announced they wioll cover brakes for 24K miles, under normal driving conditions. You should see you AVM about it.

Michael,
I did see my AVM about this and got BURNED.
My old AVM gave me the same speach that you got then I got a new AVM who changed the rules. The first one said to use my best judgement and to take care of these customers up to 24,000 miles who had just worn out their brakes. I did three goodwill brake jobs then the new AVM came in and throttled me for giving away warranty work with no manufactuer defects. My new AVM is really a great guy and I know his pressure was coming from above however I got hung out to dry on this corporate policy change. Watch out...

My understanding of the policy on GM covering brakes up to 24 months or 24000 miles is that it was a western region policy only and I hear that at NADA,many reps were disregarding what upper management had decided. Many service managers were very angry and GM was supposed take action to correct the situation.

My whole issue in my comments above were to the effect that you need to set your own dealership policy and stick to it. GM will change their minds next week or next month. They are in cost cutting mode now. If you can support your decision with documentation
then your covered when audit season opens again.
