May DA report

May DA report

Postby robc » Tue Jun 22, 2004 9:11 am

We know that GM altered the peer groups of stores to better align them with similar dealers in mix of vehicles - but so far every DA report I've looked at has had some strange changes.

First, everyone changed peer groups that I've looked at. (You can tell by the vertical line after the May numbers at the top of the report.) If anyone has a DA report where the peer didn't change please let me know and tell me your franchise mix. My suspicion is everyone changed groups.

Also in nearly every case the dealership's CPVS took a nose dive. Not surprising because GM's national CPVS slid a bit as well. But here is the funny thing - normally the current month CPVS runs about 85% of the dealer's overall CPVS. But this month my averages are down to 75%. (Take the one month current CPVS and divide it by the three month CPVS for May).

The only time I've seen this type of shift in the past is when GM has removed a large portion of claims from the measured total. Did anyone see anything from GM other than the plans for revamping the peer groups?
