Hi gang. Here's a question for the GM guys out there....
Do you show GMPP repairs as "customer pay" or "warranty" ? We used to write up and post these sales as CP but when GMPP went to the "WINS" submission method we switched them to a warranty sale. To tell you the truth I can't remember why we made this change...unless it was to just simplify submitting for payment.

Maybe it was done so electronically accounting for the repair they went to 263 account and so when Credit Memo came and was posted it was relieved off schedule easily by simply posting as you do always all warranty claim credits. Generally this would be easiest method to control GMPP claims with least amount of headaches.

We show GMPP sales as customer pay. The parts are sold at full list price with tax so that equals C.P. to me.. It lands in the 26301 account.

Looking back on it I'm sure Gary is right....it was just easier to post and track these claims on/off the 263 schedule.
However, I am going to spend some time tracking these repairs and see just how much impact this is having on our CP sales statistics.... hours per RO specifically. Some of these repairs are expensive.
Just another example of how different accounting practices at different dealerships can skew some of the numbers which we commonly use to compare our departments.
