We are looking into the ADP system and currently have R&R. We are multi-franchised and multi-companies. Does anybody have any suggestions or questions that I may need to pose to ADP? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I think I have already gone through a bottle of Tums.

Keep R&R - after 15 years of R&R, ADP(Another Darned Problem), and UCS, R&R is by far the best.

How is the Tech support with R&R? It may be beneficial to discuss support issues prior to conversion.

Have you thought about looking beyond R&R and ADP to support your stores. There are many additional alternatives out there such as ADAM, AutoSoft, EDS, etc. Why limit your search to just one? Most dealers are not willing to go through the pain of changing systems. If you are serious about moving to another vendor, you owe it to yourself to really evaluate all the viable players.
You may wish to hire an independent group to assist you in defining your needs and evaluating your alternatives. Sandi Jerome of Sandi Jerome Computer Consulting provides great insight into what is available and how it will match up with what you need in addition to ensuring you get the right price. The few thousand dollars you spend with a company such as hers I am confident pays off 10 fold in terms of system purchase price and long-term satisfaction.

I have had lot's of contact with both systems as well as some others such as PBC,ADAM and some other windows based junk not even worth mentioning. In the end you will always come home to r&r as it appears they are the only ones who ever consulted anyone from a dealer in the design of their system. Some systems do one thing real good and other things real bad. R&R is about as level playing field for doing all things well as you can expect.

You can find others who will say the exact opposite of what you just read.
If you are not sure of what to look for, etc..., take Matt's advice and find a good independent consultant who will help guide you through the process as well as help prepare you for successful utilization of a new system or an upgrade with your current vendor.
There are others besides Sandi Jerome as well. Look for a consultant that will not only help you get the best system for your dealership at a good price, but also help ensure you have a successful implementation and set yourself up to maximize system utilization of whatever system you go with.

Thanks for the advice everybody. The only problem with some of the smaller DSPs is the fact that they cannot support all of our franchises. Or they support a partial, such as service/acctg but not parts. There is so much to consider and weight. Tech support is good with R&R, much better recently than what they went through a few years ago. But the prices do just seem to escalate while the technology industry prices continue to decline. Unfortunately, I think this is going to be consistent for any company that handles the variety of franchises and concerns that we have. We'll just keep trudging ahead!!!

Chrysler/Dodge/Jaguar/Lincoln/Mercury/Chevrolet/Oldsmobile (for a little while longer)

We just switched from R+R to a company out of Salt Lake City called Arkona and have been very happy to date with them. You might want to give them a look.
