Service Sales Managers-Consultants

Are we not talking about Sales People? Do we ask a lot of our SSM/SSC in the cource of a normal day? Do we reward those that are super stars or are they made to feel the same as the other non producers. If we look at a Vehicle Sales Person they make 25% of gross I don't believe any of us would pay an SSM/SSC that rate of pay but we expect a lot more of our front line people than the normal Vehicle Sales Managers does of his front line people. I have had a core pay plan in place for my Service Sales Managers/Consultnats for 7 years now. It works for the store and it works for the individual. I have never had any turn-over becuase of pay. I pay on individual production, override production, and parts gross profits. I also have a spiff program based on what I would like to have them focused on at any given time. There pay on an individual basis runs from a low of 53K to a high of 102K. I am happy, the owners are happy and the Service Sales Managers/Consultants are happy! Obe of the TOP things I have found over the years is give them a hugh pat on the back for a JOB well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that an awful lot is asked of advisors. I'm not sure if other dealership personell appreciate what a difficult job it is.

What is "override production"?

I have always thought that the Service Advisor position is one, if not THE toughest job in the dealership. The advisor has so many people to keep happy...the customer, the service manager, the technicians, the parts people and the dealer...let alone the manufacturer! It is a great "proving ground" for dealership employees. I agree that the pay in a lot of dealerships is not where it needs to be to retain good service advisors. I see a lot if great people burn out in this position. Let's make sure that we tell them that we do appreciate them and take care of them whenever we can. They can and will continue to be a valuable asset to your organization.

I pay my Service Sales Managers/Consultants a override on all of the other hours produced by the other Sales People minus their personal production...
