Anyone have any good Express service payplans they wish to share? Trying to motivate, and attract smiles and positive upbeat attitudes.

It is nice to see other people looking at Express Service not just Express Lube. I have had a very large express group in my shop for a year now and find that it has changed the entire dynamics of the service drive. The pay plan I have my guys and girls on is $6.00 per hour clock time with no overtime. Then I pay them 5% of their parts and labor sales and we have a spiff program going on most of the time. The members are earning anywhere from $9.00 to $14.00 per hour depending on how hard they work. I do not have to chase them or find them now to get the work done the more they do the more they make. Service pays the $6.00 per hour and the 5% on labor and the parts dept. pays the 5% on parts. The team members love it because they can control their earning power.

I am interested in just how much Express Service do they do? I mean what kind of work are they allowed to do, trans flush, brake flush, etc. Secondly, do the other line techs complain that they do all the gravy work? I am very interested in this, but not sure if it could work here.

All the Express Techs are allowed to do any repairs the Team Leader feels they can complete with the time limit of 2 hours of work or under. The main shop guys love this process because we do not have to stop them to check out these quick items. Note: my regular line techs do clean a ticket all the way including LOF'S. This process has increased the overall shop productivity.
