This is an old one, but maybe with a new twist.

I asked my GM Service Rep about the .33 cents per day fee Enterprise added, and he made it sound like Enterprise can charge $37 or $42 per day, PLUS any taxes. Never heard it interpreted that way, but it would make Enterprise a few more dollars a day if he is right. Plus, we would have to argue over .33 cents. Anyone heard anything different on this one?

Also, he said many dealers are charged less than $37 and $42 per day, so this shouldnt be an issue. Are any of you guys paying Enterprise LESS than $37 and $42 per day?

Finally, how many of you rent in house or use someone other than Enteprise?

I would definately argue the .33/car/day! That can add up quickly. The way I understood the bulletin is the $37, $42 or $45 per day is to include taxes.
I pay enterprise less then those rates on non warranty rentals, with the agreement that we tell them when it is a warranty customer so they can get their $$.

The maximum is the maximum - as in nothng above that limit. Moreover, GM altered the P&P a few issues back to read -

* GM is not responsible for state and local taxes, levies, fees and insurance. (1.4, page 17)

So far nobody has had any trouble as long as the rental was at the threshold, but I am just waiting for the day a rep questions the tax/recivery fee/homeland security fee.

In reference to price, I have found that each location can negotiate pricing as long as it is approved by their area manager.

If there are Enterprise competitors with in your area, you should have open dialogue about potential future business, if anything to keep Enterprise honest.

Enterprise had attempted to increase my rental rate to $33 a day for all rentals. This action forced my dropping Enterprise for Hertz, which by keeping open talks, agreed to a lower rate $25.00 per day. Enterprise assumed I would just absorb the increase and pass it onto the customer, they did not expect me to pull the plug. Approx 7-8 months later, the Enterprise Area Manager and Store Manager arrived to attempt to regain our business. A probation period of 6 months at $18.00 a day per rental was established with Enterprise. Currently we still use Enterprise 99.9% of the time; I have discontinued all internal loaners, and have established $23.00 flat for internal/customer pay charges and $28.00 flat for warranty. Fords TAP program allows for $18.00 a day rental assistance when there is not any rental coverage, so when we offer a rental at $5.00 a day out of pocket, customers love it.
