WITH THE COMPLEXITY OF NEW CARS AND TRUCKS WHAT CAN BE DONE TO HELP TECHS. GET PAID FOR
ACTUAL TIME SPENT FINDING COMPLAINTS OF OUR
CUSTOMERS CARS OR TRUCKS. WE HAVE SO MANY
INTERMITTENT COMPLAINTS THAT ARE DIFFICULT
TO FIND IN .3 OR .5 TENTHS. AND WE WONDER WHERE ALL THE TECHS ARE GOING.

I WOULD SUGGEST YOU START TRACKING THE TYPE OF REPAIR,TECHS THAT ARE SPENDING THE LARGE AMOUNTS OF TIME ON THESE REPAIRS,THE TRAINING THESE TECHS HAVE HAD. IF YOUR TOP TECHS ARE HAVING MAJOR PROBLEMS, FILL OUT A REQUEST FOR REVIEW ON EVERY TIME CONSUMING DIAGNOSIS REPAIR. THE MORE DEALERS WHO DO, THE QUICKER THE REPEAT STUDY GETS DONE. THE FALL-BACK IN THE MEANTIME IS OLH. YOU HAVE TO DECIDE WHAT IS "UNUSUAL OR EXTENSIVE" DIAGNOSIS TIME REQUIRED. THEN YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT IT. IF YOU CAN SUPPORT IT, PAY IT. REALIZE THAT THIS WILL AFFECT YOUR WARRANTY COST ANALYSIS NUMBERS. YOU HAVE TO DECIDE WHAT WILL GIVE, UNTIL THE FACTORY WAKES UP TO THE REAL WORLD OF COMPLEX VEHICLE DIAGNOSIS.

We just recieved our Kent Moore J7889888 MAGIC WAND our rep says no more diagnosis will ever be needed!!!!!!!!
Just kidding, but sometimes you would think they have this mentality.

To add insult to injury, read admin message VSG19990026 which basically says GM will NOT change the labor time to perform campaign 99011. The message now includes the revised instructions for completing the campaign.
Both of my trans techs have performed these campaigns on many vehicles but have yet to match the time. They are seasoned, experienced techs that can usually match the campaign times after a few trials. I am having trouble getting these techs to perform the campaign as the time is not enough!!
What are your thoughts and how do your trans techs feel about the time allowed for campaign 99011???

I SHOWED THIS TO OUR SHOP FOREMAN AND FIVE OF OUR MASTER TECHS. THEY DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS RECALL. THEY ALL HAVE SAID THE TIME WAS SUFFICIENT. THIS AFTER WE DID AN IN-SHOP TIME STUDY ON EACH OF THEM. THEY DID NOT WANT TO PURSUE ANY FARTHER SINCE THEY MET THE TIME ON THE FIRST ONE, AND COME OUT A LITTLE AHEAD ON THE ONES DONE AFTER THAT.
