Since our new car sales are way down over the past 2 years I am looking for ways to retain our pre-owned customers in our service and parts departments. I would like to retail all pre-owned non-product and our products. Our pre-owned business on the sales side is up over the last 2 years any GOOD Ideas????????????IDEAS
Please help my ship is sinking.............

What does your extended warranty penetration on used car sales look like? This is a good way to retain the customer. We would give a 3/3000 and sell the remaining 9/9000 to the customer at 75% of total price. We got more parts/service business and really dropped out policy adjustment expense. Sold more used cars, too.

We started having a "new owner seminar" for the used vehicle side of the business but you have to get the sales people on board to be successful, spiffs, etc. seem to help.
Customers seem to love it; a number of drawings are held and each customer receives a $50.00 loyalty card.

If you offer a complimentary first oil change to new vehicle purchasers, you might want to extend the offer to pre-owned also. You also could enroll them in any reminder programs that you use.
Thanks!
