If you're using the ADP service appointment system on web suite, I'd like some feedback please. Pros and cons.

I am still running on Elite but wouldn't think that there would be a difference in the two. It works great for us. We have been using it for years without any major issues.

I have people who are resistant to change(I know you're shocked!) and I'm trying to sell them on it. Can you tell me what you consider the benefits? Thanks

There's always a good excuse to why we shouldn't use automation. There's usually a better reason for why we should.
The new appointment calendar is very cool. Its formatted like an outlook calendar and allows you to create columns for each writer, or show a single writer with monday thru friday in 5 separate columns. (web2007)
In the A/DA function, you can hit C at appt time, and the system will show you available time slots based on the setups in SAO.
I think the resistance comes from not wanting to load appts in the first place. The system will never be as fast as scrawling Smith on a blotter or just saying "bring it in the morning" But what good is fast if its not thorough?
Use this 1-on-1 time to talk about a customer's recommended maintenance as you look at their history records. Don't waste opportunities to sell!!
Then at write-up, you'll have a complete pre-workorder waiting for them. More quality time - less keyboard poking.
I also like the links for showing missed appts and receipted SORs without appts. These are all great tools for any shop (even if you don't believe in appts)

Thanks jazd-couple of questions, it's been a while since we looked at the demo.
Is it really any more work to make the appt or would you describe it as basically writing the ro in advance?
Do the workorders automatically print out overnight from appts? seems I vaguely remember something like that
Can you make notes on the appt calendar like mechanic on vacation or shop closed for Safe Kids or anything like that.
Thank you so much, I'm waiting on a return call from ADP, but........still waiting.

Its your call how complete you want to be.
You can create appts with only a name and a model and with no op-codes - or as a nearly complete RO in advance. Like I said before in different words - Its no longer a race game of how fast we can do it, Its a case of being thorough and finding every opportunity to increase sales per transaction. I've worked with professional appointment coordinators - its absolutely amazing how that person can control the conversation and take a 1-line request and turn it into a 3 line order (without pressure)
Do the workorders automatically print out overnight from appts? seems I vaguely remember something like that
Its a jobstack setup with function PPW (print pre-workorders)
Can you make notes on the appt calendar like mechanic on vacation or shop closed for Safe Kids or anything like that.
Kinda - you can close down a day (holiday) or reduce the goal appts/hours for that day. Can be a little more specific if you have dispatching. Other than that, I guess a sticky-note on the monitor would do the trick (sorry - a smartass answer, but probably effectively true.)
Thank you so much, I'm waiting on a return call from ADP, but........still waiting.
Which web200x version are you on? 5, 6, or 7?

Thanks that helps a lot. I'm the controller/system admin and I want to get the service people to take the coach class this week and I'm being told "we're just a little Mom and Pop, we don't need that" grrrrr.
We're currently on Elite and going on websuite S next week. 06,07 not sure?

ADP and X-time - I am looking at 2 systems. How does X-time "talk" to ADP to let my advisors know it is a waiter. Do we set up an op code to do this?

Xtime's certified RR and ADP interface, RO's created all op codes, comments, transportation types advisor info etc.
Xtime is faster easier more informative internally, BDC and consumer year, make, model specific and takes control of scheduling from advisors increasing hours and $$$$$$$$$$$$ our bdc loves it
we enrolled through BMW program, Mercedes, Chrysler, Lexus, SE Toyota endorsed Autonation, group 1 , sonic, hendrick and penske uses them
