Toyota Valve Clearance

Are any toyota service departments recommending inspecting valve clearance at 60,000 miles as recommeded in the owners manual ? If you are doing it, are you catching any heat from your customers in regards to the cost involved? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Most (if not all) of the newer toyota engines have hydraulic lash adjusters and should be self adjusting. Unless we see a problem and suspect valve clearance issues, we don't recommend inspection. I will have to double check the maintenance manual, though, as I may be missing the boat!
