Finding and Keeping qualified technicians is not an easy chore for any dealer. GM is aware of the shortage and the difficulty in keeping qualified people to fix cars and trucks which have become more and more complicated as time passes. So, does anyone have a clue, why, when a recall such as 99021 is released, the factory labor time guide, which is already low, is cut another half hour? I mean other than taking advantage of the dealership and our technicians, for the dollars sake.

How about this: The Cadillac Escalade used to have 3.5 hrs for PDI. It was higher than other cars because the tech was required to install the running boards, roof rack, the 3-button OnStar AND perform the rest of the PDI. For the 2000 model Escalade (which we have 6 already) the OnStar is factory installed and the PDI is now 2.0 hrs. For some reason, GM thinks the OnStar installation was 1.5 hrs of the post-production assembly and the PDI is now that much easier.

This is outrageous, but consistent with Alan's experience.

How about campaign 99011 in which so many dealers called the DBC to complain that the time allowed was not enough. What did GM do, they sent an admin message stating GM would not consider changing the time allowed and stated new repair procedures are on the way. Another example of the dealer doing the repair for less than a fair time.
