Does anyone have a good pay plan for their body techs? I would like to offer an incentive plan for my guys. My techs produce a range of 40 to 60 hours per week. I could just give the better guys a raise but I feel an incentive for hours over a certain level would benefit both the techs and the store. Any information sources or ideas would be great! Thanks!

While we're at it.. my body shop manager is on salary and I'd really like to put him on an incentive. He's resisted (duh) me on this and I'm wondering what other body shop managers have for pay plans.

That should be fairly simple. The first step is to figure your techs average weekly hours (individually) and then make certain that that amount of production is producing "net" profit each month. At that point you can come up with a tiered payplan as follows:
60 hours per week average= normal rate
65 hours per week average= normal plus $1.00
70 hours per week average= normal plus $2.00
etc. etc.
The items to watch are quality of repairs and "embelishing" on needed items. We have worked this plan for both service and body depts. with excellent success. Good Luck

We pay our b/s managers a % of gross $ and a % of net profit.
We find that this focuses them not only on generating gross but also keeping a close eye on expenses.
