I don't know if this topic was covered before, but I am using ADP for my service reminders and was wondering how I could utilize bulk mail. I talked to the post office and was told I would need to bar code the letters. Was wondering if anyone out there is doing this, and how they are doing it?

No but if you find out more please let me know . There is some information on the usps web-site but it's a little confusing and I haven't had the time to go down there and get it figured out. I don't recall that you had to use bar codes, I think the biggest thing is it has to be sorted by zip code.

i paid the post office $350.00 for the bus. reply mail setup and a $300.00 deposit for the mail costs. the local postmaster set it up for me and i had the postcards made by a local printer. after that i used pre-perforated 8x11 2 up 2 across postcard sheets and set up ADP's mailer program for follow up and oil change reminders...with ADP it worked great!!! easy to do, just like anything else it takes time but once it's done you just run it daily, weekly, monthly...whatever you need to keep up with your volume. cut and paste this link http://www.theautochannel.com/mania/ind ... g2000.html

Mark I am currently using the ADP mail porgram, but what I am trying to do is lower my postage rate. I talked to the area postmaster briefly and he recomended the USPS website for info. If I read the bulk mail program correctly then I can lower my postage cost by adding bar coding to the mailers. The bar codes are there to direct the postage to the correct zip code, I think I need to sit the postmaster down to see if this can be done in house.

I use ADP and PitneyBowes software for our reminder program as well as all other Marketing Mailers. We average about .21-.22 cents per letter for our mail cost. Returned letters are minimal and the savings in postage pays for the PitneyBowes Software and DI350 Stuffer/Folder.

It's a bit of a pain to go through but it save us a lot of labor and a lot of money. Feel free to email me if you want additional information.
