Has anyone gone to an inhouse system for paint chip touch up on used cars. Tired of shelling out hundreds a week to the guys who go store to store. Has to be better in house. Anyone done this yet

Been there done that. Not a good experience in two tries. Both individuals left after training, one just a couple months, the other after two years. I even had a contractual agreement... that would not stand up in court. Now I literally rent space for a vendor to do his work. It sort of makes me feel better <g>

I would not train someone or buy a program again.

We actually hired an outside company and they work the service lane and shop. They allow us a 15 to 20 percent mark up. Where we actually do well is in the windshield rock chip and replacment. Paid about 2k for the initial repair and install kit. Trained 2 of our technicians to repair and replace. Grossed about 27k last year. The repair kits come with repair practice glass, and replacement had a few bumps and bruise, but we now do all customer and used car replacement!
