One Line Item Repair Orders

Postby bsilcox » Fri Oct 22, 2010 7:19 pm

To All of the Really Smart People in Automobile World Today! What is the Benchmark and/or Standard for "One" line item repair orders in todays market? Is it 50% or 25% or 75% what is it?? Does anybody have a worksheet to determine what is a One Line Item Repair Order? Do you count repair orders under a certain mileage let's say 25K or do you count everything?? If the vehicle comes in with only Warranty and you can't SELL something does it count as a one line item repair order??

Please advise

As consultants we have always used the percentage of less than 5% of customer pay repair orders for this benchmark. We count a lube, oil change, and filter change as a one item repair order. Free "20 point" inspections are not counted in the <5% benchmark. A full factory recommended maintenance service at each factory specified mileage interval is counted as a multiple line repair order.
