Freon

The weather is warming up and we are having our annual discussion about A/C services.

Two issues I'd like some feedback on:
1) Our parts department charges out freon in increments of one pound. So if we use 1/4 pound to top off a system, the customer gets charged for a pound. Part of the rationale is that it covers what sometimes doesn't get reported and it also helps pay for the evac machine. What do you think about that?
2) What is everyone charging for a pound of freon these days. We charge $25 a pound. Too much? Not enough?

Selling 134a at 24.95/lb. About charging for a full pound and only actually using 1/2 a pound, that makes up for the lost 134a on WRO.

I was attending a class with about 30 PM today and the price of 134a came up. People were selling it anywhere from 18.00/lbs upto 40.80/lbs. Mind you these guys are from all over the country.

We charge $40.00 per pound but we only charge out in 1/2 pound increments. That way, when we only have to use 1/4 lb, it is a lot easier to explain to customer that we had to use 1/2 lb instead of a full pound. It is all about customer perception.
