Z28-I think it's important to include parts counter staff in the success of the service department. The typical friction between parts counter and techs/advisors can be minimized by bonusing parts staff on shop production. I thinks it's also important to bonus advisors on parts sales to eliminate their tendency to discount. I took over parts in 2004 from the service side and had to deal with a 'barrier' between the 2 departments. The new pay plans made a world of difference. Our shop produces 3-4000 flat rate hours per month. Counter personel split $1 per hour between them. I also pay them 1.5% of total parts gross and factor in a CSI bonus. If you would like copies of counter or advisor pay plans post your e-mail address.
