WE HAD OUR TOOL AUDIT LAST WEEK. THE AUDITOR ORDERED 500.00 IN TOOLS. THEY WERE FOR MANUAL TRANSMISSION REPAIR ON CATERAS. ALL OTHER TOOLS HAD BEEN INVENTORIED PRIOR TO THE AUDIT USING THE LIST PROVIDED. OUR TOOL ROOM IS SEPERATE FROM THE PARTS DEPARTMENT, BUT WE USE A LABELED BIN SYSTEM. OUR TEAM LEADERS AND THE SERVICE MANAGER ARE THE ONLY PERSONNEL WITH KEYS. THIS HAS REDUCED THE CONFUSION ABOUT WHO HAS WHAT. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT THE TOOLS YOU HAVE BE ORGANIZED WELL IN ADVANCE. THIS WILL MAKE IT EASIER TO DO YOUR OWN INVENTORY, AND TO OBTAIN THE ITEMS YOU ARE MISSING BEFORE GM DOES IT FOR YOU. THE AUDITOR SAID THAT THE AVERAGE ORDER HE WAS SEEING WAS ABOUT 3000.00. THIS IS IN THE MICHIGAN-OHIO AREA.
