What's the best way to pay techs for doing these? If the tech finds work that needs to be done, they will be paid on the upsold hours. If no work is found, they will want to be paid for filling out the form. What has worked best for you?

We pay the tech .5 for 27 point checks ( and signing off on a list) but don't pay them anything for inspections as part of an oil change (checking fluids, suspension inspections, exhaust etc.) or inspections for brakes. Other shops in our area offer free brakes estimates so, to be competitive, we offer free inspections and estimates on brakes!

I pay my techs .3 for every inspection that does not result in a upsell. If they do get an upsell they absorb the inspection fee. This has helped my shop drastically increase cp labor and the customer appreciate the free inspection.
