I left a dealership in Jan 05 after 10 years of service. I was the Service/Parts Director.
The last 3 years I cleared $75k. For a mid-size dealer this was'nt bad, but if I chose to move 50 miles down the road, the pay would have increased to over 100K per year. I took 8 months off from this business, and have just taken a Fixed Op's position with a another small to mid-sized dealer with a guarantee of no less than 80k the first year. I'm in upstate NY, so I suppose it isn't bad pay, It's more than the local police chief makes, go figure!

I have been in the car biz for some 25 years. Mostlyt in service, advisor, manager fixed ops director and some body shop.
Now at a mid size GM store (around 1400 ros per month) with high csi (91.4 3 month top box and 87.4 12 month)7 years as manager at this dealer.
The plan is 5% of gp with a small csi bonus (500) and small salary (1600). Not sure if this is in line
