I have a strict "NO Cellphone policy in the service dept. Reasons: It causes too many distractions. They are a safety issue, I watched one guy bump his head on a transfer case while talking on the phone. Another tech Shussed me while he was on the phone, and I was trying to find out the statis on the vehicle he was suppose to be working on. Exceptions are allowed with prior authorization, like wife is pregnant and due at any time, medical situations, ect.

We don't have one yet, but may have soon. We haven't had much sucess so far with asking ee's to use common sense so we'll probably have to ban them. There's always at least one in every crowd who can't control their use.

It's nearly impossible to write a set of rules that addresses every possible situation and people will find ways around your rules or just wait till your back is turned.

Something to the effect that an employee may be disciplined or terminated if cell phone use interferes with job performance or safety.

Attempting to employ specific rules on cell phone use in today's world is one of the must futile endeavors I can think of.

I am not saying I like it...it's just reality. And, it's a great reason for incentive based pay systems. If they want to waste their time on their cell phones, let them pay for the waste.

We have a simple no cell, no personal call policy which we modify as MSM does in certain circumstances.
