We are trying to incourage our experienced Tech's to work with an apprentice. Does anyone have a good pay plan that is good for both parties and keeps the cost of labor in line?

A plan that I like is to take a green apprentice and marry them to a highly motivated tech. Pay the apprentice the entry level for your area, and pay the journeyman $XX per every falt rate hour. Make sure the comback concerns and quality issues are the responsibility of the journeyman tech. Have all the work assigned to the journeyman, and he will oversee tha apprentice.

We have a similar system although we the journyman on the hours that that trainee produces over his objective. The objective is set up to be the break even to retire the debt of the trainee. we also pay the journyman that money in stages not just as the hours are produced. to promote the importance of being a long term employee.
