Any dealer's open service on sunday?
If so how is it working out?
Did you pick any new business?

Thank God my dealer is not open on Saturday or Sunday, but I came from a dealer who was open on Saturday and Sunday and Saturday as much as the boss wants to believe was a good day it was dead after 12 (we were open till 5) and on Sunday we would average 1 or 2 oil changes (that's all we did) in the 4 hours we were open some Sundays no one would show up. My personal opinion is there is no money on Sunday especially if you are paying time and a half or double time for the workers.

Once upon a time (for probably ten years)we were open 7am-7pm 7 days a week.
Sunday was nearly impossible to staff.
Nobody wants to work on Sunday.
And very few customers want to come in on Sunday.

Depends on where you are!There is a suburb of lincoln, NE that is mostly Seventh Day Adventis, everything is closed on Saturday, open on Sunday. some folks love that, they drive over there for haircuts, auto repairs, just like a regular week day.

Myself, I don't work on Sundays.

The last Chevy store I worked for had a sister Toyota store that was open 7 days a week: Service and parts
Mon-Fri: 7:00 AM-6:00 PM
Sat: 7:00 AM-5:00 PM
Sun: 7:00 AM-5:00 PM
All parts employees were required to work 6 days a week. some had off sat some had off sun.
They used to be open S&P till 9pm
I'm not sure how profitable they were. But I know they were busy on Saturdays

Some states have Sunday closing laws. North Dakota is one that comes to mind. I also know that both Iowa and Minnesota have laws that prohibit selling motor vehicles on Sunday. I have heard of Christian dealers that have advertised that they are closed on Sunday so they and their employees can have a day of rest. They also make sure that the used cars have window stickers with how they are equipped with prices. There is a box that people can drop a form into if they spot a vehicle that they would like a salesperson to contact them about. It is a soft sell, which some people like. Plus there are people that want to do business with a operation that has values other than making another buck. I think you can recruit better employees by letting them have weekends off.

And on the 7th day God rested and drank beer, played golf, went fishing etc etc etc. I always said if we went to Saturdays I'd find a new profession(we did I didn't)but i would definitely draw the lines on Sunday. just my .02.

what about family and kids and ...life....???
are 11 or 12 hours a day not enough?
If you're a salaried position, have you calculated how much you get paid an hour? probably below minimum wage...

I would even think of deleting it from the forums so DP's don't get any ideas...

55-60 HRS not enough ? If we open Sundays I will be gone even if it means living on public assistance ( I could use the increase in pay !)
