I would like some examples of how you charge customers for tire labor and how you pay your line techs.
I am new to this dealership and in the past, the guys have been paid a significantly higher rate for tire labor, a high amount of labor, and customers are charged the door rate. Also, there are different labors charged for run flats and low profile tires.
The result? Really high labor for tires - $200 for run flats, but the guys are selling tires!
What are you guys doing?
Would love some copies of tire labor charged if you have any.

If you can get door rate for mounting and balancing tires, my hat's off to ya !
We charged $12.50 labor per tire.....$50.00 for four, which is what all the local tires shops were charging. I recall that we paid a full hour to mount and balance four....so naturally we wanted lower paid guys doing it.
Cheers

Same here as Old Irish. $12.50 per tire. Lube tech or lower paid guys do tires. I let the flat rate guys do them if they upsold them. Tires are a loss leader like the oil change. Get the tires off and hope to find some ugly brakes or suspension work.

If Parts pays the $8.00 to mount & balance, why do they split the profit on the tires ?(which is probablby minimal as it is)

How much do you pay your techs for tires? Our guys have been getting a much higher labor rate and anywhere from .3 a tire to .75 on a runflat tire. I know this is VERY high, but...they are selling tires.

$45 mount and balance 4, 1.2 steel wheels, 1.5 aluminum wheels. We have a split rate system and this would be the lower rate so any tech can perform.

I have all my discounted work discounted with the tech rate. The techs share in the discount. We pay the tech 0.3 to mount & balance, but his rate is at $17.00 / hour. His regular rate is $25.00 for repair work. All the techs in the shop work the same way for discounted maintenance work.
