Since there is not a specific warranty question board, I hope that someone here can answer this for me. I am puzzled by the LOP C9047. If you look, it pays .5 for each side seat belt, but pays 2.1 for both. I pulled the svc. manual and it specifically states that you need to remove the seats to replace the seat belt. The LTG pays 1.6 to R&R the seat. Has anyone run into this before? I really don't want to have to try and do a LTG review request. I have never been able to sucessfully have anyone non-biasly review the LTG to make make a recommendation in favor of the dealer. I am just curious if anyone has noticed the major descrepencies in these times lately or am I just reading too much into it?

Cindi, I assume you are talking about a C-body because that's the only vehicle that exhibits this error. My gut tells me it's an error and that C9040/C9041 should pay 1.6 hours each or 2.1 to do both. That seems more in-line with the ratio that other platforms use.

I would suggest a request for review - but it seems like this time has been wrong for years. (I searched every LTG update released in the past two years and there were no mention of these ops for a C-body.) So I am little surprised no one has ever questioned it before. I chalk it up to just a rarely used LTG (since Olds dropped the C-body a few years back).

If it were me, I'd submit about 0.9 OLH with these claims if it is as you've decribed. For notes I put, "LTG appears to be in error - pays 2.1 for both and C6040 pays 1.6 as reference." I really think though that the C9040/C9041 time is wrong not the C9047.

Other than that tell the techs to always do them in pairs (JUST KIDDING!)

In general, I urge you to submit a LTG review whenever you run into a problem like this. Yes, they are a pain and they seem futile, but they are the ONLY procedure at your disposal to try and make a difference. I spent 4 1/2 years in a Chev service dept pricing tickets and working warranty. The Shop Foreman and I were constantly sending them in, and we were averaging 50% approval. To give you a specific example, when the S-10 3-door pickup came out,they were having lock/latch problems with the third door. There was nothing even remotely related in the LTG or WINS acceptable as "closest to" to submit to this repair. Our first phone calls to DAC were interesting, to say the least. The first three people we talked to didn't know that this model existed. I am now working as WA for an Isuzu Commercial Vehicle dealership, and have the same type of problems. I am 0 for 4, so far, but hanging in there.

Do the LTG reviews and be persistant. Follow up on them, and force them to give you an answer. It will pay off in the long run.

I definitely concur and always send onto GM a review request as this is the best way to assure unfair times are reviewed and possibly changed to a more realistic time allowance. I have in the past sent in several requests per model year and usually found the review process very fair (albeit some of my technicians werent always thrilled with the outcome). You can now more readily access this Request for Review form via the Access LTG available after download to your server or from the CD-Rom sent to all dealers for the LTG. Print the form out and have a technician document their repair procedures and where possible back it up with pages from Service Manuals for car lines in question. This system isnt the easiet but it works in the long run to assist all of us in getting a fair LTG allowance published to use on future repairs.
