Job Advice

Current PM @ a mid sized, busy GM dealer. Being considered for a service and parts director position at a smaller GM store. Meeting with dealer principal next week.

What questions would you ask, or what would you want to know about the current service operations before accepting or declining an offer?

Have 30 years in the business, with a few years experience as a body shop manager, and filled in as service manager for a couple of years a long time ago.

I know all the right questions to ask in regards to parts. Don't mind a challenge, but would like to avoid walking into a terrible situation.

Opinions?

What are the dealers expectations, improvement goals, etc... Where did they come up with the information. How long was last manager there? what kind of turn over have they experienced. What do they feel was the reason for a change , what did they see, hear? What is the expected time table. I think it is important to explain how you operate to make sure they are in full agreement with your philosophy and the immediate steps that you would do upon arriving. Will they share financial data with you?
also check yelp or any other on line site reviews, you might find little tid bits of information that may help you make a decision....good luck
