GM Dealer self review

Post by shadow98 »

Hi all, I have been lurking here for years...so i have come to the best with a question... I am a 7 year gm warranty admin...6 years at a small pont-gmc store, now i am at a chevy "megastore". At my last dealer i never got one of these ever...this is the 2nd one now here that i got...My service manager did not seem concerned, his response was i get these all the time no biggie...My claims % is usually 90% or above week after week....has anyone done these before? any advice would be great...

thanks in advance

Nothing to worry about, pretty common depending on your DA #'s and your rep. Been there done that....

You have to take the cues from the rep and whether the regional warranty specialist is going to get involved. As mentioned how much of a worry is really a condition of your DA report.

I agree, usually no big deal.

I wouldn't totally ignore what's going on, though. If you get a DSR for three consecutive periods, though, you might be feeling some heat.

I have found that the trick to the DSR is to look at how you are processing the claims. Sometimes it is not how much business is being done, but how it is processed. If an op is being paid, but has started showing up as excessive, look at it to make sure it is really the correct op. Other dealers may be using a different operation for the same repair. Sometimes techs want to replace both tie rod ends when it really needs only one. If the techs are wanting diag time for every item, that could push labor ops out of range. If techs are putting more parts in a rebuild on than others in the peer group is doing, that will push you out of limits. I had a rep in Memphis that really helped me and my warranty adm. a lot. We went from being the highest to the lowest in 4 month in CPU repaired. We got way under the radar.
